【I Vicini del Piano di Sopra ~ Kamishibai Project】

Ciao, iniziamo questo articolo subito con una domanda e se la risposta è “SI“, siete curiose della cultura giapponese come noi e ne siamo felici, se invece la risposta è “NO“, vi spieghiamo subito in breve di cosa si tratta.

🔸Kamishibai (纸 芝 居), che può essere tradotto come “dramma di carta”, (da Kami: Paper e Shibai: Theatre / Drama) è una tecnica narrativa giapponese che appartiene a una lunga tradizione di storie di strada, la cui origine può essere fatta risalire ai templi buddisti del Giappone del XII secolo.
Il dispositivo si basa sullo scorrimento di singole tavole illustrate, che vengono inserite dal narratore (il kamishibaya) all’interno di un piccolo teatro in legno (il butai) e attraverso il loro scorrimento danno vita ad una storia.

Ora che sapete cosa è un kamishibai, vi illustriamo il progetto a cui abbiamo partecipato.
Nella nostra città si sono tenuti due laboratori che prevedevano la realizzazione del Kamishibai, quello di falegnameria a cura di TESTA DI LEGNO 🔨 e serigrafia a cura di Else Edizioni 🎨

Eravamo divisi in gruppi, cosi ci siamo divise e abbiamo realizzato due storie diverse di 4 illustrazioni monocromatiche con i nostri rispettivi gruppi.
Non era la prima volta che vedevamo la procedura della serigrafia e siamo state felici di sperimentarla ancora. Purtroppo non è facile poterla usare anche a casa se non si ha a disposizione una fotoemulsione idrosolubile e una fonto a luce ultravioletta con cui si fissa l’immagine sul telaio.

Con il laboratorio di falegnameria, invece abbiamo costruito la struttura in legno dei kamishibai, una versione piccola e trasportabile, altrimenti possono essere molto più grandi.
Sicuramente all’inizio è stato impegnativo, non avevamo molta pratica con questi utensili, ma é stata un esperienza interessante.

Hi, let’s start this article right away with a question and if the answer is “YES”, you are as curious about Japanese culture as we are and we are happy about it, if the answer is “NO“, we will quickly explain what it is.

🔸Kamishibai (纸 芝 居), which can be translated as “paper drama”, (from Kami: Paper and Shibai: Theater / Drama) is a Japanese storytelling technique that belongs to a long tradition of street stories, whose origin can be traced back to the Buddhist temples of Japan of the twelfth century.
The device is based on the scrolling of individual illustrated tables, which are inserted by the narrator (the kamishibaya) inside a small wooden theater (the butai) and through their scrolling they give life to a story.

Now that you know what a kamishibai is, we show you the project we participated in.
In our city two workshops were held that involved the realization of the Kamishibai, that of carpentry by TESTA DI LEGNO 🔨 and screen printing by Else Edizioni 🎨

We were divided into groups, so we divided and made two different stories of 4 monochromatic illustrations with our respective groups.
It was not the first time we saw the screen printing procedure and we were happy to experience it again. Unfortunately it is not easy to be able to use it even at home if you do not have a water-soluble photoemulsion and an ultraviolet light source with which the image is fixed on the frame.

With the carpentry workshop, instead we built the wooden structure of the kamishibai, a small and transportable version, otherwise they can be much larger.
Surely at the beginning it was challenging, we didn’t have much practice with these tools, but it was an interesting experience.

VINCITRICI AL CONTEST “DISEGNA BELLE”

In un post precedente abbiamo parlato dell’uscita del film “BELLE – il drago e la principessa con le lentigini” (竜とそばかすの姫 Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime) e come Anime Factory avesse creato un contest di disegno per la promozione.
Noi siamo risultate tra i 10 vicintori e siamo felici di mostravi il premo che stavamo aspettando.

Dalla foto potete vedere, insieme al nostro lavoro, la stampa con il disegno e l’autografo del regista Mamoru Hosoda; questa è una delle 10 copie limitate messe a disposizione del contest.
Siamo veramente felici perchè consideriamo Hosoda tra i migliori registi di animazione in Giappone ed inoltre abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo questo nuovo film.

Ora non ci resta che aspettare l’uscita del DVD!

In a previous post we talked about the release of the movie “BELLE – the dragon and the princess with freckles” (竜 と そ ば か す の 姫 Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime) and how Anime Factory had created a design contest for the promotion.
We were among the 10 vicintori and we are happy to show you the prize we were waiting for.

From the photo you can see, together with our work, the print with the drawing and autograph of the director Mamoru Hosoda; this is one of the 10 limited copies made available to the contest.
We are really happy because we consider Hosoda among the best animation directors in Japan and we also really enjoyed this new film.

Now we just have to wait for the DVD release!

Su instagram seguiamo due bravissime artiste, Moondyviolin (Alessandra) e Giallosardina (Anna Ferrara) che hanno messo a disposizione due loro illustrazioni per il #Drawthisinyourstyle. Draw this in your style (in italiano: Disegna questo nel tuo stile -abbreviato: DTIYS) è una sfida artistica, in cui gli artisti disegnano un’opera d’arte già esistente, ma nel loro stile.

Qui sopra potete vede i loro lavori originali, mentre sotto sono le versioni realizzate nel nostro stile con la tecnica tradizionale dell’acquerello in aggiunta di dettagli con acrilico e glitter pen.

➡️L’illustrazione di Moondyviolin rappresenta la sua Lady Carousel e di lei c’è subito piaciuta la giostra che caratterizza la sua gonna, cosi abbiamo cercato di personalizzare il suo vestito con dettagli particolari ed altrettanto estrosi. Leffetto gorgiera delle maniche e le calze sono molto piaciute all’illustratrice.

➡️L’illustrazione di Gaillosardina celebra l’anno della Tigre, con annessa Gru per buon’auspicio. Per la nostra versione abbiamo deciso di realizzarla con un design in stile tatuaggio giapponese (irezumi). All’illustratrice è molto piaciuta e abbiamo anche ricevuto un apprezzamento da un utente giapponese per la buona riuscita del design.
In più abbiamo pubblicato questo disegno su ART street di Medibang e anche li è stato apprezzato da essere menzionato sul loro profilo twitter.

On instagram we follow two talented artists, Moondyviolin (Alessandra) and Giallosardina (Anna Ferrara) who have made available two of their illustrations for the #Drawthisinyourstyle. Draw this in your style (abbreviated: DTIYS) is an artistic challenge, in which artists draw an existing work of art, but in their own style.

Above you can see their original works, while below are the versions made in our style with the traditional watercolor technique in addition to details with acrylic and glitter pen.

➡️Moondyviolin’s illustration represents her Lady Carousel and we immediately liked the carousel that characterizes her skirt, so we tried to customize her dress with particular and equally whimsical details. The ruff effect on the sleeves and the stockings was very popular with the illustrator.

➡️The illustration by Gaillosardina celebrates the year of the Tiger, with Gru attached for good luck. For our version we decided to make it with a Japanese tattoo style design (irezumi). The illustrator liked it very much and we also received an appreciation from a Japanese user for the success of the design.
Plus we posted this design on Medibang’s ART street and it was also appreciated by being mentioned on their twitter profile.

Vincitrici al Contest “disegna BELLE”

Il 17 marzo al cinema è uscito il film di animazione “BELLE – il drago e la principessa con le lentigini” (竜とそばかすの姫 Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime) scritto e diretto da Mamoru Hosoda.
Abbiamo apprezzato anche altri film di Hosoda-sensei e naturalmente non potevamo perderci questo film, che tratta in maniera alternativa e moderna una delle nostre fiabe preferite, “La Bella e la Bestia”.
Per l’uscita del film inoltre Anime Factory, in collaborazione con NippoNotes e Anime Click, ha organizzato un contest dal titolo “Disegna Belle” con in palio 10 copie numerate e disegnate da Mamoru Hosada.
Noi abbiamo partecipando pubblicando sui social, sotto la tag #LaMiaBelle , la nostra illustrazione che alla fine è stata selezionata tra i dieci vincitori. Presto riceveremo l’opera autografata ed inoltre abbiamo saputo che i disegni vincitori saranno inseriti negli extra dell’uscita Home Video, quindi aspettiamo con ansia di poterlo comprare.
Sotto vi lasciamo vedere il nostro disegno, realizzato per l’occasione in maniera tradizionale (Acquerello, acrilico e glitter pen) in più il video di Mamoru Hosoda che disegna Belle.

On March 17 th the animated film “BELLE – the dragon and the princess with freckles” (竜 と そ ば か す の 姫 Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime) was released, written and directed by Mamoru Hosoda.
We also enjoyed other Hosoda-sensei films and of course we couldn’t miss this film, which deals in an alternative and modern way one of our favorite fairy tales, “Beauty and the Beast”.
In addition, for the release of the film Anime Factory, in collaboration with NippoNotes and Anime Click, organized a contest entitled “Disegna Belle” with 10 numbered copies designed by Mamoru Hosada to be won.
We have participated by publishing on social networks, under the #LaMiaBelle tag, our illustration that was ultimately selected among the ten winners. We will soon receive the autographed work and also we have learned that the winning designs will be included in the extras of the Home Video release, so we look forward to being able to buy it.
Below we let you see our drawing, made for the occasion in a traditional way (Watercolor, acrylic and glitter pen) plus the video by Mamoru Hosoda who draws Belle.

T-Shirt Commission

Ciao!
Torniamo condividendo con voi questa recente commissione, dove ci era stato richiesto di dipingere una t-shirt per regalo.
Questa è la seconda volta che ci ritroviamo a dipingere questo soggetto, la prima volta lo facemmo per una t-shirt per noi stesse.
A qesto giro abbiamo deciso di impreziosirla un po’ di più, utilizzando una colore metallizzato per la scritta sul retro.
La cliente è stata molto soddisfatta e siamo state felici di questo ordine anche perchè la committenza proveniva dall’Australia.
Quindi è stata una bella soddisfazione che qualcosa fatto da noi facesse un viaggio così lungo.

Speriamo vi piaccia e vi ricordiamo che siamo sempre aperte ad una commissione di questo tipo. Sopra la t-shirt realizziamo quello che voi volete, non è la prima volta che facciamo questo tipo di commissione.

Hello! Let’s go back sharing with you this recent commission, where we were asked to paint a t-shirt as a gift. This is the second time we find ourselves painting this subject, the first time we did it for a t-shirt for ourselves. In this round we decided to embellish it a little more, using a metallic color for the writing on the back.

The customer was very satisfied and we were happy with this order also because the client came from Australia. So it was a great satisfaction that something made by us made such a long journey.

Bacio (Valentine’s Day)

 Per San Valentino torniamo con una illustrazione ispirata all’opera dell’artista Klimt (Der Kuss) ma su stile più orientale, per i nostri OC. ✨
Abbiamo finalmente scelto un nome per questi nuovi OC a cui abbiamo dedicato già 3 illustrazioni: l’uomo si chiama Sanrei mentre la donna invece è Shirotsuki.
E’ bello tornare ad usare gli acquarelli e per ricreare la doratura abbiamo usato gli acrilici, l’effetto finale ci piace molto.

For Valentine’s Day we return with an illustration inspired by the work of the artist Klimt (Der Kuss) but on a more oriental style, for our OCs. ✨
We have finally chosen a name for these new OCs to which we have already dedicated 3 illustrations: the man is called Sanrei while the woman is Shirotsuki.
It’s nice to go back to using watercolors and to recreate the gilding we used acrylics, we really like the final effect.

  TANABATA 七夕

July 7 was the anniversary of a well-known holiday in Japan, which has its origins in the Chinese tradition.
The name is Tanabata Matsuri (七夕祭り), where in japanese language Tanabata/七夕 means “seventh night” while Matsuri/祭り is for “festival”, but it is also well known as the Star Festival (星祭り/Hoshi matsuri).

The Tanabata is the legend of a couple, the princess Oriime and Hikoboshi (representing the stars Vega and Altair). The two lovers were separated from the Milky Way and they could only meet once a year, the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. On this holiday people admire the sky to see these two stars, hoping that the weather will be clear so that the two lovers can meet. They also tie colored leaves to bamboo plants, enclosing their own desire.

In the role of legend lovers we decided to represent two of our recent OCs, because we thought they lent themselves well to this representation. For this work we went back to using traditional techniques, combining watercolor and acrylic, plus the details with a glitter gel pen.
This is not the first tribute we create thinking about this legend, a few years ago we had also created a short 2D animation with the stop-motion technique. (You can find this animation in the Portfolio –Animation section)

il 7 Luglio è stata la ricorrenza di una festività olto nota in Giappone, che ha le sue origini nella tradizione cinese.
Il nome è Tanabata Matsuri (七夕祭り), dove in giappoese Tanabata/七夕 significa “settima notte” mentre Matsuri/祭り è per “festival”, ma è anche conosciuta come Festival delle Stelle (星祭り/Hoshi matsuri).

La Tanabata è la leggenda di una coppia, la principessa Oriime e Hikoboshi (che rappresentano le stelle Vega e Altair). I due amanti erano separati dalla Via Lattea e potevano incontrarsi solo una volta all’anno, il settimo giorno del settimo mese lunare del calendario lunisolare. In questa festività le persone ammirano il cielo per vedere queste due stelle, sperando che il tempo sia sereno così che i due amanti si possano incontrare. Inoltre legano a delle piante di bamboo dei fogliettini colorati racchiudendovi un proprio desiderio.

Nel ruolo degli amanti della leggenda abbiamo deciso di rappresentare due dei nostri OCs recenti, perché abbiamo pensato si prestassero bene a questa rappresentazione. Per questo lavoro siamo tornate ad usare le tecniche tradizionali, unendo acquerello e acrilico, più le rifiniture con una penna gel glitter.
Questo non è il primo omaggio che creiamo pensando a questa leggenda, qualche anno fa avevamo creato anche una breve animazione 2D con la tecnica dello stop-motion. (Potete ritrovare questa animazione nella sezione Portfolio –Animation)

We have come to publish a new personal and original design that represents another part of us.
“Melancholy Charm” is the third one that we actually publish on this genre focused on inner themes and that we entrust its exposure again to china and a sheet of paper that we like very much for its yield.
Each design is also accompanied by a brief concept of what we want to express and from which you can understand the choice of representation used.

We believe that these drawings will come together to be part of a series that we will gradually expand following the stimuli and inspiration that will come from within us.

Abbiamo pubblicato un nuovo lavoro personale e originale che rappresenta un’altra parte di noi.
“Melancholy Charm” è il terzo che pubblichiamo su questo genere incentrato su temi interiori e che affidiamo nuovamente la sua esposizione all’inchiostro e ad un foglio di carta che ci piace molto per la sua resa.
Ogni disegno è inoltre accompagnato da un breve concetto di ciò che vogliamo esprimere e dal quale è possibile comprendere la scelta della sua rappresentazione.

Ancora una volta abbiamo usato questo foglio color paglia e dobbiamo ammettere che con i pastelli giusti, i colori lo rendono molto bene.
Dopo aver visto una foto di Kyo (DIR EN GREY – Sukekiyo) mi ha ispirato per questo disegno.
La sua faccia esce dal nulla come un sogno, come un incubo, come un messaggero che si rivela a noi.
Adoriamo il suo trucco !!!

Once again we have used this straw-colored sheet and we must admit that with the right pastels, the colors make it very well.
After seeing a picture of Kyo (DIR EN GREY – Sukekiyo) inspired me for this design.
His face comes out of nowhere like a dream, like a nightmare, like a messenger who reveals himself to us.
We love his make up!!!
